About Me

Bio

Hi, I’m Ben! I am a naturalist, field guide, wildlife photographer based in Santa Fe, NM.

My interest in photography began in college with trips to Indonesia and Tanzania with my first camera in hand. On those trips I found a passion for photographing wildlife - particularly birds. I continued to be the designated wildlife photographer on trips with friends and family, but didn’t get serious about it until I began working as a naturalist and field guide in Southeast Alaska on small-ship cruises with National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions after college. Since then I’ve focused on spending more time on wildlife photography on trips and at home. I am particularly interested in macro and bird photography.

After years traveling the world and teaching people about natural history (specializing in ornithology, ecology, and botany) with National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions, I started Santa Fe Nature Guiding to bring visitors and residents of Santa Fe into nature and to inspire & amaze them with the natural history of Northern New Mexico.

Today I keep myself busy doing:
